Keep EROS Alive

Three kinds of love need to be in play for a marriage to work

EROS PHILEO AGAPE

1. AGAPE love- this love is unconditional love that GOD demonstrates to us everyday. It’s the kinda love that sacrifices for the good of another, its selfless, its relentless, its supernatural. Without this kind of love, we are doomed to fail.
Its what separates the status quo marriages from the thriving marriages.

2. PHILEO Love- The city of brotherly love, Philiadelphia comes from that word PHILEO. Phileo is the friendship kind of love. Enjoying the company of your spouse , companionship, When times get tough or your children just aggravate you, that’s when you need the friendship of your spouse. Phileo is the love that makes you call your spouse My best friend.

3. EROS love- the word erotic comes from EROS-
This is the passionate, sexual, hot burning passion kind of love. EROS makes your pulse beat faster, makes you daydream, weak in the knees Love. It's what stirs your passion for your spouse.
EROS is what brings two people together BUT it can’t be the foundation. In marriage, we need to keep this alive, the EROS flame will not burn on it's own.

Romance is a Skill not a feeling- It does not exist or stay alive simply because you fell in love.

ROMANZ- Anglo-French meaning Romance

a. • A love affair.
b. Ardent emotional attachment or involvement between people; love: They kept the romance alive in their marriage for 35 years.

Romance says I don’t have to think about you, I get to think about you.

EROS or romance begins to fade when you think about your spouse because you have to and when it’s a bother to you.

Your challenge this week- keep the EROS flame burning. Do something different. Say or do something that will keep your spouse guessing. Think back to what made you fall in love in the first place.

FOR the LOVE of MARRIAGE PEOPLE, KEEP EROS ALIVE.
